About me

Providing Information, Clarification, and Encouragement

My husband and I began homeschooling our four children in 1988 and retired when our youngest child graduated from high school at home in 2010. We did not retire from supporting homeschool families or from sharing a vision for homeschooling free of all unnecessary paperwork and requirements.

I have served the homeschool community by providing evaluations in Pennsylvania since 2009. Based on other qualifications (see explanation below), I am currently approved to evaluate at the elementary and secondary levels in the following districts:

Homeschool Evaluator & Encourager

BA Mus. (Music Education)
MS Ed. (Education)

Click here if you would like to schedule an evaluation.

Click here to contact me if you have questions about evaluators and evaluations, portfolios, logs, or standardized testing.

I evaluate based on other qualifications:

I bring a strong educational background and decades of hands-on homeschooling experience to every evaluation. I hold a BA and an MS Ed., and I’ve been part of the homeschool community since 1988, so I understand the unique goals, challenges, and joys of home education.
If you’d like me to provide your homeschool evaluation and your district is not listed above, I’d be glad to guide you through the process. I can supply a simple letter for you to share with your superintendent requesting permission for me to complete your homeschool evaluation.

From the PA Home Education law:

The evaluation shall also be based on an interview of the child and a review of the portfolio required in clause (1) and shall certify whether or not an appropriate education is occurring. At the request of the supervisor, persons with other qualifications may conduct the evaluation with the prior consent of the district of residence superintendent.
